26.5-40 GHz 3D Printed Antenna

A 3D printed antenna in PLA, with a surface finish of copper, making this antenna super cheap. A maximum gain of 18.1dB was achieved, demostrating the potential of this kind of antennas. There is still a lot to experiment, such as electroplating, and surface smoothing using acetone in ABS!

Simulations in ADS

A small simulation of a transition in ADS for sanity check, since one of my designs was having huge losses. It turns out it is porbably from the connectors themselfs, since the transition seems to be ok.

LoNam v5

Another version of my Low Noise Amplifier, with a dual output (2 or 3 gain stages), including a powermeter and a LED for showing the intensity of the signals being received. Made for 1.7 Ghz, with a bandpass filter, a low noise amplifier and 2 power amplifiers.

Amplifier board tests

September 2023

Simulation vs actual testing of an amplifier board I designed for the reception of very weak signals. This is the 4th iteration of it and finally I managed to be sucessful. The gain however is not the intended one, and I think parasitics because of the smd packages is the reason (they are big for easy soldering). A new iteration is needed.

Satellite Reception

Once again, we find ourselves delving into the realm of antenna design, this time focusing on a crafted patch  antenna optimized for 1.7 GHz frequencies. Regrettably, the simulations conducted prior to fabrication failed to fully align with the outcomes observed in the production , particularly in the case of two out of the three boards manufactured. It seems that the design's efficacy was too dependant on some lenghts, a factor that posed significant challenges during the production process. Note taked for the future.

These were made with a very specific process and a special type of board, the so called Rogers substrates.

Discone Antenna

Summer 2023


A very wideband antenna to capture signals from 400Mhz to more than 10x this frequency! Good for the reception of strong signals. 
Made at home, in aluminumn (a pain to solder). An "ugly" choke was also made with the cable for balancing purposes. 

Captured signals from planes 120km away!

Satellite Reception

In the summer, I tried to receive signals from some other satellites, but now with much better quality. This is my antenna, which is pointed to a dish, for better reception. Unfortunately, even after many tries, I was not sucessfull to capture any data. The lack of equipment was a problem, but I am still working on this.

Satellite Reception

This image was captured from a passing by weather satellite with an uncrypted downlink. After building my own LNA board, and using a simple V-shaped dipole antenna, I was able to get reception. Failures: A lot, but I did it! Frequency: ~137Mhz

Wideband LNA

3rd iteration fo my wideband low noise amplifier. Its purpose is to amplify very weak radio signals, like the ones we receive from satellites. MicroUSB powered, it now just needs an aluminum enclosure.

Development board

A development board I designed. The ultimate goal is to use it in a secret product I have been thinking about. Worth the note that it was my first board ever, so I made many mistakes and it does not work. The version 2 is already ready for the production, but I am still putting some money aside for it.

Arm LEGV8 Cpu Simulation

Simulation of a very simple datapath for a CPU. Basically. a LEGV8 Arm CPU core simulation using Verilog. Open-source. Made even bore having a Computer Arch. course, given I was very interested.

Absolut Reader

An ebook reader fully of tools, such as the already mentioned Chaimager, which helps one to not forget the name of characters, for android, made using React Native. At the present (October 2021) the 1st version was released! Check out the main website of the project:

Voice chess,
a Chess Board With Voice Commands


For all people with incapabilities (or just for the lazy guys), this board allows to play chess without hands. Using google´s funcionality that translates the voice to text, the commands of the movement are sent for the controller, that moves the pieces (and even remove them when they are killed) using a magnet. Chaimager

An app built fully in python with Tkinter for the GUI. It allows a user to modify automatically a PDF, adding images next to all the ocurrences of a particular name, so that you may recall easier who is the character the author was talking about. Check it out in my old website page.

Moving Phantom, to scare some people on Halloween.

When someone is walking next to it, a PIR triggers, making the light bulb to glow, and the arms to move. A "owowowow" sound is also produced using columns. Perfect to scare people at night, on a spot with lack of light, during halloween.
